The short answer is yes! Pre-diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes and certain diet-related chronic diseases can often be CURED with the right diet and lifestyle modification. When your doctor or others say there is no cure for diabetes, what they mean is there is no drug cure but there is absolutely a cure. This is especially true for prediabetes and early onset Type 2 Diabetes. However, even those with long standing Type 2 Diabetes or other chronic health conditions can drastically improve their condition and prevent complications with the right diet and lifestyle. One problem, however, is there is much debate and uncertainty about what the right diet is. This is due to many factors. The best diet is the one that works for you and eliminates ultra-processed foods as well as refined grains and refined carbohydrates. I have spent years studying nutrition and working with people with prediabetes and diabetes and I find over and over, blood sugar levels drop and normalize unbelievably with changes in diet.  But you must reduce carbohydrate intake and consume healthy fats and quality sources of protein.

Type 2 Diabetes and pre-diabetes are conditions that are associated with lifestyle choices. Nine times of 10 these conditions develop as a result from a diet high in carbohydrates coupled with a stressful and sedentary lifestyle. For many of us as we age, our ability to process and metabolize carbohydrates declines and this coupled with the over consumption of processed, refined ultra-processed foods high in carbohydrates leads to insulin resistance, obesity, and diabetes.

I have worked with countless clients who have reversed pre-diabetes, put Type 2 Diabetes into remission, or reduced their A1c below target and lost significant amounts of weight.
